Product Details

A deep horizontal line between the lower lip and chin can create a noticeable shadow across the lower face. This natural feature is called the labiomental crease or labiomental fold, and its prominence can be influenced by facial structure, movement and the position of the chin.

Our chin crease treatment for Norbiton patients begins with an individual assessment of the fold and the structures surrounding it. Where appropriate, carefully placed dermal filler may be considered to soften the indentation and create a smoother transition from the lower lip into the chin.

Treatment takes place at It’s Me & You Skin Clinic in Kingston upon Thames. The clinic is Doctor Led by Dr Laura Geige and uses the highest quality materials selected according to the movement, depth and support required in this delicate area.

Please contact the clinic before purchasing or booking. We must confirm availability and assess your medical history, anatomy and suitability before any injectable treatment can be arranged. Attending a consultation does not guarantee that filler will be recommended.

What Is a Labiomental Crease?

The labiomental crease is the groove where the lower lip meets the upper part of the chin. Everyone has some degree of natural separation in this area, although the line may be shallow in one person and distinctly indented in another.

Its appearance can be affected by chin projection, lower lip position, inherited facial proportions, dental structure, soft tissue and movement of the mentalis muscle. The crease may be noticeable at rest, during expression or primarily when viewed from the side.

Where dermal filler is appropriate, a measured quantity may be placed beneath or around the fold to provide support. The purpose is usually to reduce the depth of the shadow without leaving the area completely flat or restricting natural expression.

The line should not be treated in isolation. A short or recessed chin can sometimes make the fold look deeper, while muscular movement may be the more important factor for another patient. Dr Laura Geige therefore assesses the lips, crease, chin and profile together before proposing a plan.

Chin crease filler is different from general chin augmentation. Crease treatment focuses on the indentation beneath the lower lip, whereas chin augmentation is usually intended to alter projection, shape or definition. Some patients may need both concerns considered, but they should not automatically receive the same placement or quantity.

Dermal filler is an injectable cosmetic procedure with recognised risks. The NHS advises patients to research the person performing the treatment, understand which product will be used and ask how possible complications would be managed.

Benefits of Chin Crease Filler

A Softer Horizontal Indentation

For suitable patients, filler may reduce the visible depth of a pronounced line beneath the lower lip. The intended outcome is a more gradual transition rather than the complete removal of normal anatomy.

Reduced Lower Face Shadowing

A deep fold can cast a dark shadow that becomes particularly visible in photographs or overhead lighting. Adding carefully judged support may make this division appear less prominent.

Individual Product Placement

The correct treatment point differs between patients. Some may require support close to the crease, while others need the surrounding chin structure assessed before the fold itself is considered.

More Considered Profile Balance

The indentation can appear deeper when chin projection is limited. Examining the full side profile helps establish whether isolated crease filler is likely to create an appropriate result.

A Non Surgical Approach

Dermal filler may provide an option for suitable adults who are not considering an implant or surgical procedure. It does not permanently alter the underlying bone, although it remains an injectable treatment with potential risks.

Preservation of Natural Expression

The lower lip and chin move continuously during speech and facial expression. Treatment is planned to soften the crease at rest while respecting normal movement and the natural character of the face.

Preparing for Chin Crease Treatment

Contact It’s Me & You Skin Clinic before purchasing. The team will check appointment availability and ensure that you are booked for the appropriate type of consultation.

Consider when the line is most apparent. It may concern you while your face is relaxed, when closing your mouth, during speech or when looking at your profile in photographs.

Provide a complete medical history, including relevant conditions, allergies and any earlier reaction to dermal filler or local anaesthetic.

Tell Dr Laura Geige about previous treatment to the lips, chin, jawline or surrounding lower face. Filler placed elsewhere or several years ago may still be relevant to the assessment.

Bring an accurate list of medicines and supplements. Do not stop prescribed medication unless the clinician responsible for prescribing it has advised you to do so.

Recent or planned dental work should be disclosed. The timing of dental treatment, infections and injectable procedures may need to be considered before an appointment is confirmed.

Avoid alcohol shortly before treatment because it can make bruising more noticeable for some people. Eating normally and remaining hydrated may also help you feel comfortable during the visit.

Arrive without heavy make up around the mouth and chin where practical. The skin will be cleansed, and clinical photographs may be taken for assessment and record keeping.

Contact the clinic if you develop an infection, cold sore, inflamed skin, dental problem or illness before attending. Postponing the appointment may be the safer and more appropriate option.

Aftercare

Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, firmness or bruising may occur around the injection sites. The crease can look uneven while swelling is present, so the immediate appearance should not be judged as the final result.

Avoid pressing, rubbing or repeatedly manipulating the treated fold. Do not attempt to reshape or massage the area unless your practitioner has specifically advised you to do so.

For the period stated in your personal instructions, avoid strenuous exercise, excessive alcohol, saunas, steam rooms and intense heat. These may make temporary swelling or bruising more noticeable.

Take care when applying lipstick, make up or skincare close to the treatment area. Strong acids, scrubs and other potentially irritating products should be avoided until the skin has settled.

Try not to rest your chin heavily on your hand or sleep with direct pressure against the lower face during the initial settling period.

Dental work, facial massage and additional injectable treatments may need to be separated from the appointment by an appropriate interval. Contact the clinic before arranging them.

You will be told which symptoms require urgent assessment. Increasing pain, marked changes in skin colour, visual disturbance or any other unexpected symptom should be reported immediately because filler complications can occasionally be serious.

Why Choose It’s Me & You Skin Clinic?

Norbiton has an established local aesthetics market, including businesses operating within a few minutes of the station. Our distinction lies in investigating why the fold appears pronounced rather than offering the same line filling technique to every patient.

Dr Laura Geige leads the clinic and takes a consultation first approach. She considers the relationship between the lower lip, chin projection, facial movement and jawline before deciding whether filler is likely to be appropriate.

Only the highest quality materials are selected for treatment. The product, quantity and injection depth are chosen according to the individual anatomy and the degree of support required.

Restraint is especially important around the labiomental fold. Too much volume can make the upper chin look heavy or alter the natural shape beneath the lower lip, so treatment is planned conservatively.

The consultation includes a clear discussion of realistic changes, temporary side effects, possible complications and alternative options. Patients are not expected to proceed simply because they have attended an appointment.

Siddeley House provides a discreet ground floor setting within walking distance of both Norbiton and Kingston stations. The clinic is straightforward to locate, with the treatment room immediately on the left after entering the building.

Personalised aftercare is also part of the clinical service. You will receive guidance about the settling period, activities to avoid and symptoms that require prompt contact with the clinic.

Chin Crease Treatment Norbiton FAQs

What is the line between my lower lip and chin?

The line is called the labiomental crease or labiomental fold. It is a normal part of facial anatomy, but its depth can be influenced by chin shape, lip position, soft tissue, dental structure and muscular movement.

Can filler completely remove a horizontal chin crease?

Complete removal is not usually the objective. For suitable patients, filler may soften the depth and shadow of the fold while preserving natural separation between the lower lip and chin.

Is labiomental crease filler the same as chin augmentation?

No. Crease filler focuses on the groove beneath the lower lip. Chin augmentation usually aims to alter chin projection, definition or shape. The doctor will assess whether either treatment is appropriate and whether the concerns are related.

Is the clinic within walking distance of Norbiton Station?

Yes. Siddeley House is approximately a 15 minute walk from Norbiton Station. Local K2, K3, K4 and K5 bus services also provide connections around Norbiton and Kingston.

Must I contact the clinic before purchasing?

Yes. Please contact It’s Me & You Skin Clinic before purchasing so that availability and suitability can be checked. Treatment cannot be confirmed until your medical history, anatomy, expectations and potential risks have been discussed.
